Animals: Our universal needs

We, humans, are mammals. Just like the chickens, the otters, the whales, the goats, we have families, needs and wishes. We have curiosity such as a puppy. We are playful like pigs and hippos rolling in the mud.
We need connection, community, our tribe(pod, unit, group).
Some thrive in small groups like wolves, and others like being in a herd such as the elk.
Some of us need a lot of touch like the Chimpanzees, whilst others do well with occasional contact such as the female bangle tiger.
Each animal, like indigenous cultures express, can teach us about ourselves. Biodiversity isn’t just about a healthy ecosystem it’s about our clear minds.
Next time you are on a walk listen to the birds. Watch the insects hustle. Feel the fur on a feline. Appreciate the play of the chickens and ducks.
Yoga is more than just our inward connection. It is about appreciation, and love for all creatures around us. Knowing that we know nothing, in emptiness can we learn and grow. In silence can we share. Your guru is yourself, your teacher, the trees, the animals, and the sound of the wind.
Namaste,
Misted (misty) Forest
