Misty Karma Yoga Talk 1: If morality was based on easiness we would all still be slaves.
Fighting for the innocent comes before comfort. When we are in environments where we help the lost, the sick, the poor, where we protect the innocent the energy is naturally peaceful. This is a cute puppy adopted by a mountain temple in the Seoul mountains.
This little guy’s playful disposition made everyone who walked by smiled. What is difficult, is fighting for these creatures when people justify hurting animals as “gods will!” “animals were created for man!”
The root of all evil is the idea that some lives are worth less.
How about the idea that all lives are equal therefore you don’t have to feel bad about killing anyone of them? I have met that attitude , and it’s just as cynical. If you say that eating plants is wrong but then chow down on a dead cow…you bet I am going to call you out on your concerning, viewpoint. I am not saying that plants aren’t conscious, they are. Everyone organism communicates with each other, walking in a forest often enough will teach you that. But justifying the torture and enslavement of species that we see in the animal agriculture business, by saying that a strawberry is the same as a pig…when it comes to a nervous system and pain receptors, is ridiculousness cop out for avoiding habits. (Once one is aware of what they are doing the habit is broken and it becomes a choice. So once you are aware of the injustices around you, then one can make a conscious choice, with every meal, with every product purchased, with every conversation and interaction one decides to take on the subject.)
What is more important someone’s ego? Or the lives of the innocent? For when love wins, everyone wins, the ego is vanquished and the ignorant becomes aware, deciding to choose compassion and ask forgiveness. I am not going to fight you on how indigenous people live, because if we all had that kind of connection to the environment, then we wouldn’t be killing and supporting a holocaust everyday in slaughter houses or the suffering of sweat shop workers cheap factory workers, or the suicides induced by carcinogens from factories in China . innocent lives are saved, what else is there? I feel that if the majority of the world can be vegan or vegetarian mostly vegan, we can reverse a lot of damage. But even if you went vegan 6 days a week, that would make a huge difference for your health and it would save thousands to millions of lives a year.
Being an activist means doing! So stand your ground, with your shield, and your heart open. For the compassion of the victim, the guilty passerby, and the assailant. Compassion for all humans under the spells cast by the oppressors. May we all be free, from the thoughts that tarnish our ability to see clearly, and to love unconditionally.
Take action! Adopt a rescue instead of supporting breeders. Go vegan or at least work towards that direction. Do yoga everyday, meditate, change your mindset to be loving, and you will notice you will naturally make cleaner decisions and the positive mood will bring joy to those around you. March in a protest, for GMO labeling and ending the use of pesticides, herbicides and radiation on food.
Love, so much, that you have no fear. Then you really start living.

This was a puppy I met on a Mountain by Seoul, South Korea. It was being taken care of by the workers there.
